Senior Rudy Winkler (Averill Park, NY) took over the national lead with a season's best throw to win the Armory Collegiate Invitational's junior boys weight throw competition. Winkler's best throw of 79'6.25" was more than two feet better than his previous season's best set in January. It is also just more than a foot under his personal best set last March at the New Balance Indoor Nationals. Fellow New Yorker Chris Pensa (St. Anthony’s, South Huntington, NY) also set a new best to place second with a throw of 69'2".
