While the CIF has resisted high school entrants in the past, this year's edition of the Mt. SAC Relays was allowed to include high school hammer throwers. The result was several records. Conor McCullough (Chaminade, West Hills, CA) threw a new national sophomore class record of 70.64m (231’09”) to eclipse his record of 69.97m (229’06”) set last month. Trent Kraychir also competed and threw over 210 feet. Video of that throw is available here.
Freshman Casey Kraychir (Twentynine Palms, CA) threw the 4k hammer 51.88m (170’02”) to shatter the national freshman record of 159’09” set by Allison Horner (Lovett High School, Marietta, GA) in 2005. Video of Casey Kraychir's throw can be seen at this link.
