RITCA High School Invitational (RI)

Joe Velez (Classical, Providence, RI) and Reuben Horrace (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI) had a grand battle at this year's RITCA High School Invitational. Entering the final round, Horrace led the competition by less than a foot with a personal best of 67'03.25". Velez then took the lead with a big improvement of 69'09.25" Horrace responded with another personal best on his last attempt of 69'03.75" that was just short of the win. Velez now has the nation's best mark in this young season. Horrace entered the season with a personal ebst of 62'08" and managed to improve 6.5 feet in his first competition of the year.
Grace Janes (Rogers, Newport, RI) also threw a personal best to win the girl's competition. She added nearly two feet to her best with a new mark of 47'02.75". Maggie Dufault (Pilgrim, Warwick, RI) took second place.
