After leading qualifiers yesterday with a personal best effort, Conor McCullough emerged as a favorite for today's final, eventually placing fourth. The final started out rocky for McCullough who fouled his first two attempts. He moved into fourth on his third attempt and secured three more throws. While he improved in the fourth and fifth rounds, McCullough remained in fourth through the rest of the meet. Andriy Martynyuk, the world youth leader, won a close competition in which the top five finishers were separated by little more than five feet. Martynyuk finished with a best of 76.09 meters while McCullough finished at 74.54 meters. IAAF World Youth Championships
