Results of Centralia Hammer Meet
Centralia Washington
Held Sunday 7-14-13
Clear and warm, perfect conditions. This will be the last Centralia hammer meet of 2013.

High School girls 4 kilo

1. Hanna Frost, 11th, Mary M Knight, 147'8" PR
2. Riley Scocco, 9th, Shorewood Christian, 133'9" PR
3. Haleigh Sedbeck, 9th, Camas, 106'1" PR
4. Grace Workman, 11th, Tumwater, 105'5"
5. Kylie Eager, 12th, Tahoma, 104' PR

Lifetime bests by 4 of 5 participants. Hanna’s mark moves her into the number 5 spot all time in the State’s history for a junior. Riley’s throw moves her into the number two spot all time in the State’s history for a high school freshman girl.

High School Boys 12lb

1. Andy Miller, 12th, Capital, 207'8"
2. Brock Eager, 11th, Tahoma, 199'1"
3. Joe Ellis, 11th, Eastlake, 171'10" PR
4. Lukas Leitis, 10th, Eastlake, 83'3"
5. Ian Frost, 7th, Mary M Knight, 76'2" PR

Joe’s Mark was a 13 foot PR and moves him to number 34 on the State of Washington’s all time boys top 50 list. Ian’s throw was made with a soft landing replica hammer since under USATF rules, the hammer is not a sanctioned event for the youth age group.

Woman’s Open Hammer

1. Hanna Frost, 11th, Mary M Knight, 140'4"
2. Riley Scocco, 9th, Shorewood Christian, 131'7"
3. Grace Workman, 11th, Tumwater, 118'1" PR
4. Kylie Eager, 12th, Tahoma, 102'2"
5. Haleigh Sedbeck, 9th, Camas, 99'

Grace does not get a lifetime best in the high school girls but comes back in the open woman and throws a 10 foot PR and just misses making Bob Gourley’s 120 foot standard, to make his national list.

Open Men’s 16 lb hammer:

1. Andy Miller, 12th, Capital, 174'8"
2. Kyle White, University of Washington, 162'2" PR
3. Brock Eager, 11th, Tahoma, 161'6"
4. Ian Frost, 7th, Mary M Knight, 81'1" PR

Kyle throws a lifetime best in his old high school ring and Ian hits another lifetime best with the soft Landing hammer.

Athletes of the meet for the girls: This was a close call between Hanna and Riley but the edge goes to Riley whose 133’9 inch toss is the second longest in the history of the State of Washington for a freshman girl. For the boys the nod goes to Joe Ellis from Eastlake high school who throws a big lifetime best of 171’ 10 in his last meet of his junior year.

Thanks to all of you who came to watch and or help out with the Centralia meets in 2013. Centralia will host the 2014 State hammer Championships tentatively set for the Sunday after the State meet.

Hanna and Brock will move on to the 2013 Junior Olympic Nationals at the end of next week. We wish them all the best.
