Senior Rudy Winkler (Averill Park, NY) enetered New Balance Nationals as the national leader, but he left with a new personal best and the fifth best mark in high school history. Winkler led the competition from start to finish with four of his throws far enough to win. His second round mark of 83'06" was the best and will leave its mark in the record books. In a surprise second place finish, Aaron Zedella (St. Edward, Lakewood, OH) added more than six feet to his personal best in the final round to take second place. Carlos Magnum (Classical, Providence, RI) also threw a personal best for third place and another five throwers broke 70-feet.

In the girl's competition Casidy Callahan (Norcross, GA) won as the Throw1Deep club took the top two spots. Callahan's teammate Jenessa Jackson (Marietta, GA) threw a two-foot personal best to narrowly take second place over Gabrielle Figueroa (Austintown Fitch, Youngstown, OH). In addition, four of the top seven throwers threw personal bests in the competition.
