Ashley Muffet (North Canton, Hoowever, OH) was victorious in her
first hammer throw competition of the season. Muffet threw 171'05" on
her last throw to overtake Kim Williams (Alexander, Douglasville, GA)
for the win at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. The men's competition was
just as a close. Walter Henning (St. Anthony's, South Huntington, NY)
led the competition early, but failed to improve. However, John Freeman
(Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI) improved in the third round to move
into first and secure the win. Also improving on this week's national
performance list is Kimery Hern (South Whidbey, WA). Hern improved to
165'02" at last weekend's Brooks Washington/Oregon Meet of Champions.
However, that mark was not reported until after last week's performance
list was released. Hern now holds the fourth best mark in the nation.
