Conor McCullough (Chaminade, West Hills, CA) also made his season
debut with a new Freshman record in the hammer throw. McCullough's
competed in his first competition last season as an eigth grader and
had a personal best of 159'05". He is the son of the Irish hammer
thrower Conor McCullough. Mr. McCullough was a two-time Olympian and
former Irish national champion. The former record was held by the
current list leader Walter Henning (St. Anthony's, South Huntington,
NY). Henning threw 193'02" to set the mark in 2004.
Emily Bernhardt (Lassiter, Marietta, GA) improved her nation-leading
mark in the hammer throw. Also, Craig Pearce (Woonsocket, RI) became
the eigth thrower of the season to throw over 200 feet.
