Megan Maloney (LaSalle Academy, Providence, RI) improved to 161'02"
last Monday to take the national lead. Maloney also went on to win at
the Cumberland Invitational over the weekend with another throw over
her old personal best. Also among the nation's top five this week were
slight improvements by Shannon Harvey (Olympia, WA), Kim Williams
(Alexander, Douglasville, GA), and John Freeman (Bishop Hendricken,
Warwick, RI).
As the late signing period for colleges is underway, there are a few
signings from the class of 2005 that are noteworthy. Brad Charters will
be heading to Wyoming. Earlier, Brendan Lodge signed with Michigan and
the Maloney siblings decided on Oregon. Zack Midles will stay close to
home at Washington, and Andrew Hackeny of Georgia will be going to
Louisville.
